Sorry to raise the thorny FAQ menu item again…
How easy is it to change the menu header FAQ to ABOUT?
FAQs may not be popular or read, but an ABOUT menu item is almost a standard on most web pages. I don’t know about other users but I have few FAQs … and I would just like to give a little information ABOUT my website. -
Very simple. Just create a custom language file for it. I haven’t got any instructions here but the webtrees one will work: http://wiki.webtrees.net/en/Custom_Translation
Don’t get into the explanations about “Gettext format”. Just the basic csv or php versions will work for “FAQ”.
The biggest catch with custom translations is always caching. The system cache’s language file for 2 hours. If you don’t want to wait, after you’re uploaded the file go to Administration > Site administration > Clean-up data folder. Delete the ‘cache’ item. Then go back to your main site pages and refresh.
But the other way to have an “About” page is to use the ‘simpl_pages” module. That’s what I did for the owner of this site: http://levyfamilyhistory.com/

Thanks. I thought about using simpl_pages and I am glad you suggested it. I’d prefer that method so I can just disable the FAQ module until a time comes, if ever, when I want to use it.
