If I want to contact a user I tried by identifying him in Administration – Users – Manage users and clicking on his Email address. I have a problem here – a new page appears with my site header and top menu icons, and a tab with the title ‘Contact us’ – but nothing else.

These and some other bugs in the new messaging system have now been fixed.
These changes also include a new widget module “User contacts”. This is a simple widget (members only) that lists all users so that anyone of your members can contact other members directly. It is optional and disabled by default.

The list of users excludes any that have their “Preferred contact method” set to “none”.

A number of files are involved in these fixes so I have created a form of “patch” to make uploading this easy. All you need to do is extract the folder “kiwitrees_messaging_fix” from the attached zip folder to your desktop, then FTP all of it’s contents straight to your kiwitrees root folder on the web server. All the changed files are in their appropriate sub-folders, so can be uploaded together in a single action.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

I discovered that in the fix provided for this bug I included one incorrect (non-final version) file.The download is now corrected. If you downloaded this fix between the date of the previous post (#9050) and the date/time of this one you should download and install it again.
