Add a “check possible duplicates” feature to automatically operate [or at least be available] when new individuals are added, before the new addition is confirmed
Please only as “available”. Many here in Denmark has slow pages – I know that for sure! (we have so many cheap hosts with very very bad performance and many danes look at the yearly fee not at the qvality they get for their money)

Could it be possible to use the ckeditor at notes/shared notes? Or is it the idea to use the story module instead after you changed it to be linked to several ids?

No that is not possible. It would be unsafe to introduce html code into notes or shared notes. A huge risk for malicious code-injection.
That is why Greg introduced “markdown” code into webtrees. It sort-of does the same, but it is not at all user friendly; it adds a very large amount of file size to the overall project; and it does not work well in webtrees from what I have seen.
I also think it is the wrong solution. The definition of NOTES (whether simple or shared) in GEDCOM is “Additional information provided by the submitter for understanding the enclosing data”. I believe that means the NOTE should be short and to-the-point. People who add really long notes are probably mistakenly using a note when it should be referenced through a source record and attached as a citation or a media object (pdf) or something similar. So with this definition there really should be no need to use complex formatting.
Also, all such formatting will end up stored in the GEDCOM data, and is likely to look really strange in most other family history software that doesn’t know how to read it. That issue also applies to Greg’s “markdown” code.

Ah yeah – I remember now! You are right!
Well why I asked was bc I type the probates and often I could use some “formats” for those. But actually when I think about it – I have it typed in each “probate source text” But guessing it will be the same issue?

Yes, I agree. Do your colleagues find any issues with using the “autocomplete” feature? I would hope that it would be no slower than that.
But I think a button like “Check if exists” near the “save” and “close” buttons would be enough.

I think the solution for those might be (eventually) this Roadmap item:
Extend the Census Assistant template and transcription system through the development of a flexible plugin system to include a similar output for birth, marriage, and death certificates. This would be for the UK first, but adding others later if requested.
I would also like to change the Census Assistant so it produces a Source-Citation rather than a shared note. A transcription is really part of a source, not a note. It was only done with shared note originally because it easier.

Nothing I have heard about! So guessing no problem! But yes a button near would be a great solution! (and with a question mark – where we write about this feature eats some memory)
Oh Nigel – that is a wonderful idea! (well I have to redo 2.300 census – laugh). But making it as source – both as census and probate would be great. But guessing we need to have some setup to make predefined sources or something to do this trick?

- I hope we can do it without changing your existing census records – or [perhaps] include a conversion tool. But I don’t know as I have not yet started planning this very far.
- Yes for each type of transcription a template would need to be created, but hopefully something easy so many users can contribute their own templates.

Really exciting!
And it will also make it easier to export gedcom since we can exlude sources 🙂
Really great idea Nigel!
