Something I have only noticed recently (only since upgrade to 3.3.2?) …
After uploading a new image using ‘add media object’ under the Album tab, I receive a message I haven’t seen before, which readsClick the close button to return to manage media page
.
Clicking the close button does nothing – page just sits there. However, returning to previous page, to which the media object was being added, and refresshing that page, I see that the media object has been correctly uploaded. Repeated several times, with different images on different pages – always with same result. Seems to be new bug.Ron in France Website: https://clan-davies.kiwitrees.net/ kiwitrees 3.3.11; PHP 8.0.14

Yes, it is sort of. It’s a bug in what I thought was a fix for a bug!
The original bug was discussed here: https://kiwitrees.net/forums/topic/sanity-request-media/#post-8849
The cause is a browser restriction. If you check your browsers’ error console you will see this report: “Scripts may close only the windows that were opened by it.“. I thought this close button (and the red text to point out the need to use it) solved the problem, and I’m sure it did at the time, but no longer. Hopefully, I will find an alternative, but as you say, it’s not the end of the world. Just manually close the tab and refresh the originating one.
Meanwhile, I will move this to an open bug report.

Just noticed, Nigel, and thought I should mention it in case it helps …
Mtcrosoft’s Edge browser handles the situation somewhat differently (What I reported yesterday was the way in which my normal browser – Chrome – handles it). In Edge, after clicking ‘Save’ following the image upload, the user receives the message:The site you’re on is trying to close this tab. Do you want to close this tab?
Options: Yes or No. Clicking ‘Yes’ returns the page to which the media object was being added and the ‘close button’ page is not presented. Neater than Chrome (although not enough to convince me to change browser!)

Just a brief update on this one. It is still an issue in the latest kiwitrees (3.3.4)
To fix this properly requires a rethink of the add media process. As it is not a critical bug I prefer to leave that sort of change now to kiwitrees-nova. It will be reasonably easy to fix there.

This issue is finally fixed. I have recently been able to match it to the more recent reports of a similar problem with adding facts & events, and utilise the same solution.
The updated files to fix both issues are available attached to this post: Adding Fact Or Event Not Automatically Updated When Saved
