In webtrees there is the “Require visitor authentication” option.
I can’t seem to find it in kiwitrees?

And btw. in the welcome email the support link is wrong.
    It says kiwitreees.net/support

Hi Hjord, welcome to kiwitrees. Thanks for the reminder about the support link. I will get that fixed.

I’m afraid you won’t find it in kiwitrees. I removed it a couple of versions ago. It was always more trouble than it was worth to maintain, and rarely used except by users who do not realise the many alternative settings that more than adequately protect privacy.

If you really want a web site that is not accessible by casual visitors it is better (IMHO) to use a private server, or protect the entire system with server-based password controls which your web-host should help you create.

It is not a feature I will be adding back at any time.

    Thank you for your answer.
I’m running it on my private home server using Wampp. I already have a webhost, but I can only run .NET sites on that. I’m gonna fiddle around and see what I can do 🙂

If you are looking for a dedicated webtrees web host don’t forget that is the main business here of kiwitrees (http://kiwitrees.net/services/hosting/)

I do encourage you to avoid locking your site access down too much. It is really not necessary.

This is a relative new hobby of mine, and as a student, i’m not ready to use money on it yet.
But I will differently keep it in mind.

As for now, guest can only see surnames, and thats fine!
Thank you, for your support 🙂
