Using census assistant, the delete button for individuals is too big forcing an extra line.

Thanks Paul, you are absolutely right. A result of a generic change across the whole kiwitrees theme (it doesn’t effect any other theme).

For now the fix is to add the following in the file /modules_v3/GEDFact_assistant/css/cens_style.css

    .cens_data table td button {padding: 0; min-width: initial;}

    ———————————————————————–
A couple of other things while we’re on CA:

1 – I see you, like me, have a spurious digit “1” in the header area of the image you posted. Its caused by a minor code error that I have yet to identify. Doesn’t cause any issues, but shouldn’t be there.

2 – Referring back to my earlier discussion thread on moving edit windows to a full new tab. CA is one area where I think it could be beneficial. It would for example allow both the CENS window and the Shared note window to appear together (the latter hidden until required) That would give the whole thing more ‘real estate’ to work in, and allow for any ideas you might have for a better, more logical layout. Any thoughts on this?

I had not noticed the spurious digit, actually, I’ll have to try again to spot it!
Your ideas on CA (and edits) in a new tab sound sensible – I suppose I am guilty of “just getting used to it” instead of thinking of a better way! And … there are a lot of windows flying about when I am updating my old census entries to CA format – I’ll go along with you on this.

    Paul, one further question.

When you add a Shared Note using CA, do you add it as part of the SOURce or separately?

I always add mine separately, as I find it saves having to expand the source in order to be able to expand the shared note. I’ve always wondered if we really need to have both options?

(By the way – did you see that I’ve added the Census Assistant FAQ page that I wrote ages ago for the PGV / webtrees WIKI pages into the FAQs here (http://kiwitrees.net/faqs/modules-faqs/census-assistant/) Any improvements you have will be welcome 🙂

I now add my CA Shared Notes separate of sources. In the past I (mis)used sources for census details. My main task right now is to move all census SOURCES into NOTES. 4000 done, 1000 to go …. I think your old PGV FAQ persuaded me to go this way. I’d be gutted if I were wrong.

I now add my CA Shared Notes separate of sources.

Just for clarity, before I remove something then regret it, your finished census entries look like this:

    cens1

    not like this:

    cens2

I have actually STOPPED adding source information to the CA since I have used many ‘sources’ such as findmypast, ancestry, local library, FreeCEN, etc – the SOURCE is implied, ie The UK 1911 Census (or whatever) – where I got it from is not important to me. I use Shared Notes to try to transcribe the scribble I’ve seen in the census. I reserve sources for other facts which may be difficult to trace, and I do not SOURCE a UK birth quarter such as MAR 1856 which is obtainable from various online ‘sources’.
