Hi Nigel,
When I send an email from the Pending Changes screen in I click on send I get a blank screen (see attached image). I closed the screen and when I click on the email to attempt it again I got the message “The message was successfully sent to ….”.
Is there a way to have confirmation of successful sending of the message

When I do the same as you, the message “The message was successfully sent to …….xxxxxxx” appears across the top of the screen straight after the message is sent. That is how it is programmed to work. So I can’t explain why you get that empty screen. Perhaps just a server delay? Try waiting for the screen to refresh after sending the message (a guess).
Alternatively, see if there is any error message corresponding to that exact time in your server error log. I can’t imagine what error that might be, but don’t have anything else to offer I’m afraid.

It does it for me on both my sites viseur.org.nz and whakapapa.manueljose.org.nz. No entries are entered in the log file

It’s very unusual for a blank page to not be accompanied by a server error message (generally Error type ‘500’). Note, I do mean server error log, not kiwitrees logs in admin.
Is this a new problem? It’s not been reported anywhere else, and there were no changes to the messaging system at the last update, nor are there any PHP version issues related to that code. Those points, and it happening today on both your sites definitely suggest a server issue.
Have you tried:
- Other browsers
- Other themes
- Waiting to see if it clears, as noted earlier
Unless one of those suggestions is of any help, there’s nothing more I can offer. It’s not a bug in kiwitrees that I can identify.

It is not a new issue and I have encountered it before but never thought anything of it.
Regarding
- Other browsers – Yes same response
- Other themes – Yes same response
- Waiting to see if it clears, as noted earlier – It does not clear itself. What I have found is that if I press enter on the URL it redisplays the page including the message
As this function is not a normal user function I will just have to press enter in the URL. This is happens when sending an email from pending changes screen and the User Online widget. This does not happen when I send a message from the users screen
