I set all the modules to my desired preferences. Yesterday I was at the library and as part of the support I was receiving from a librarian, I needed to access my site. She saw my install of kiwitrees and I said I’d send details. So, I uploaded the British royals file to my site as a separate GEDCOM family.

When I looked at the Modules, ALL settings for my family were reset to “visitors”. So, not only do I need to set for the Royals, I need to redo my own. I’d assume that either the Royals would be set to default (visitors) and leave mine as set OR they would mimic mine until changed.

When you add a new tree each module has its own settings for that tree quite separate from any other tree. The process of adding a NEW tree has no effect on the settings of any existing tree. This has always been the case and has not changed in any testing I have done today.

If you experienced something different you will need to provide the EXACT steps you took so I can test those.

Are you confusing “modules” with something we know by a different name? Blocks, tabs, menus, privacy???

Add the new tree (The British Royals). User created with Member access to BR tree (visitor to live one which in effect means none.)

    Admin > Modules
I didn’t care if the same Modules appeared in BR and that’s not where to access is set.

Modules > Menus, Tabs, Blocks, Sidebar, Reports
Each has 2 tabs representing the 2 trees. BOTH showed each setting set to visitor; my live tree had been customized and was reset to visitor in addition to that of BR which was set to visitor (or whatever is default).

I deleted the 2nd tree; referred the librarian over to webtree’s demo page (the royal one that I was going to upload) then to your site for actual download if she’s interested. I noticed unexpected behaviour when I had my first site up and then added my live one. Couldn’t switch trees and some other things. Right now, will stay with my one tree and my second one will wait until I can deal with the issues I had and report them.

Please don’t direct people to a webtrees demo then to download kiwitrees. They are different products and will inevitably continue to diverge further. There is a large link on the home page of this site to our demo.

kiwi, I realize they’re different. I didn’t see option on your demo to login and play. IThat was why I did such. If there is, I am mistaken and can send new link.
