A25162 Marya Cipa FROCHTMAN
Added image to birth. Okay.
Added imageM14262 to FACT Married and instead of the screen updating, the F&E portion doesn’t load.
I removed both images then added birth back. ok
I added back the Fact image and it repeated to not update.

Look for error message in admin > site admin > logs.
Ignore that, I logged in to look.
You have a data integrity issue with that media object (M14262). Probably the actual file, A0000_A25162-20.png, is the problem.
The best way to clarify problem is to use “sanity check’ (Administration > Family tree tools > Sanity checker). Click the “Media object issues” option. I did that for you. It didn’t work though.
So next step is to check the logs (Administration > Site administration > logs). If you check there for Dates=today, User=my user name. You will see there that is because you have so many media issues the Sanity checker cannot function.
I see there are two different main issues there:
1 – ERROR 8: getimagesize(): Error reading from home/ftprbc/alterfamily.rbcsolutions.ca/data/media/alters/A4432.png!;
(note the “!” on the end of the file name.) If you fix that, I suspect sanity checker might run, unless the 2nd issue is also too big:
2 – You have a long list of images not connected to their GEDCOM record. Like this: The file /home/ftprbc/alterfamily.rbcsolutions.ca/data/media/alters/deleteMe_A3220b-13.png does not exist for M11366
You should delete the GEDCOM records for each of those Mxxx items (or put back the missing media objects with the same file name shown in each error message). You should be able to do this in the Manage media list (in admin), AFTER you fix item 1. above. Until you fix that the media list can’t work either!
Then, either your original problem might have gone away (i.e. it was related to these issues), or you can try again to run “sanity check’ (Administration > Family tree tools > Sanity checker, then click the “Media object issues” option) and look for M14262 in the list it produces.

I admit I’ve procrastinated removing the “deleteMe” images. I don’t see any image with a “!” ending. There is a M10384 (A4432.png) which has been around from Aug 2021without problems.
Tried to view media and I see gobble gook! Hope I didn’t bring on disaster by deleting the “deleteMe” via FTP directory listing.

OK, looks like you have misunderstood at least two things.
- The filename with ! on the end DEFINITELY exists. But I am talking about the actial image file. You must delete ot rename that (i.e. remove the !) using FTP / on the server, in the /data/media folder. It can’t be done anywhere else. If it is not on the server, then you have an error in the GEDCOM data for M10384. Because the problem prevents opening any page that lists all media, or just that one, then you will have to export your GEDCOM file, fix the error on that, then re-import.
- No, you won’t have caused any problem deleting the ‘delete_me” images with ftp – but neither will you have achieved anything either. The problem with these, as I said, lies ONLY in the GEDCOM file. The ones referenced in the error messages do not exist on the server. That is the cause of those error messages. You need to fix 1. above, then delete them using ADmin > Manage media, as I said above. NO OTHER ACTION WILL FIX THIS.

Cannot find file with !. Opened GEDCOM and searched. Did correct some GEDCOM code but not relating to this mysterious file. I remove all of his images. The one in question was not one of them attached. Strange as that’s why I have one of the death records private.
Can’t work on GEDCOM externally as my license number for GEDitCom was rejected for update version. Hope Barebones responds soon to correct.
Ran Sanity check “Missing or invalid data – Media objects issues checked “Main”. Results show 1126 objects have one or more issues. A few are “legit” missing images all others “deleteMe”. If I go through each one and select delete, will that remove correctly?

I’m not even cracking the surface! Got down to about 9501126. Found GEDCOM errors in certain records so fixed. Somewhere along the line running Sanity Check again drove me insane. It now shows over 4,000 images in question! Not the one you refer to.
However, there is another ghost.

2 _KT_USER adminfrom the GEDCOM. However, I removed all traces of images from that INDI record. Lookeddown the results and it too doesn’t show that M-number. So how is it in the raw code?
If I can’t find it, can’t fix the 1 SOUR (didn’t wait for click on found Source).
It took over 12 hours to get this far. It’ll take ages if I have to do these 4,00+ as well as anything else that comes up. Is there alternate? How risky is it to do it from the GEDCOM and re-import?
Will be my Tuesday night before I’ll take another go at it.
This is part and parcel of why starting over came to mind. Clean nucleus family members then re-add (maybe).

I’m not even cracking the surface!
Not really surprising. Perhaps I still wasn’t clear enough.
I outlined two issues you need to fix, the methodology you need to use, and the order they need to be done in.Doing anything different will fail and/or make it worse. You might even get to a point that cannot be reconciled. Sounds like you are close.
I will be back home next week and should be able to look at your original GEDCOM file. I recommend you do nothing else until then.

Tried to view media and I see gobble gook!
That was a little hard to decipher, but it is, in fact, a bug inadvertently introduced into version 3.3.12. I will raise it, with the fix, in the bugs section properly, but for now can you copy the file contained in the zip folder attached here to your server (replacing the existing ‘admin_media.php’ file in your kiwitrees root folder).
I don’t believe it will actually fix your basic problem, but it will help us investigate it better. Let me know when you have installed that file, and I’ll take another look at your broader media issues.
