But the easy way could just be to have access rules for the blocks/frames we use (journal-todo-html blocks ect) and we can just put it on main page and remove “my page” completely.
I don’t think I understand this bit. You already have the ability to set access levels for all the blocks (Administration > Modules > Blocks). The only bit missing is the ability to remove “My page” completely, which as you know I do plan to do.

Yes – access for all – but not for each one

Yes – access for all – but not for each one
Are you looking in the right place???
The item “Blocks” below the item “Modules” on the Administration page. There you set the access for each and every block independently – and separately for each block in each family tree.

I am talking about each item below each type of blocks. Like this:
I make a html item calling: welcome to my genalogy with access: public
I make a html item calling: remember at the archive with access: adminAs far I understand – you talk about each type of modules. I talk about each item in the different types of modules

Thank you. With a full explanation I can now understand the problem.
I make a html item calling: welcome to my genalogy with access: public
You put this on the Home page? Please confirm.
I make a html item calling: remember at the archive with access: admin
You put this on you “My page”? Please confirm.
If you use these as described above then no further access control is required. Any block on the Home page will always be public. Any block on “My page” will always be private and visible only to only you.
The same rule will apply when I remove “My page”from the system as it will be replaced with something similar like the sidebar we have already discussed. (I have experimented with that idea and think it can work very well).

Like my above mentioned example. Yes. I confirm. Public at homepage and admin/member access at my page.
Journal, Research task at mypage. Statistic with diff. options (design) in both pages. Html blocks at both too.
I can copy my setup at mypage to the test user and you can see at my need as an example! Just let me know if you need to have a closer look 🙂

Great, thanks for that clarification. This discussion has been very helpful for me in formatting a more detailed plan for removing / replacing “My page”. I have it pretty clear in my mind now, so in the next few days I will try to summarise what I am thinking in a separate article. Hopefully others will add feedback there.
Removing My page is a serious matter, as it has been around since the start of PGV in (I think 2002), so some users may find the changes challenging. We are fortunate here at kiwitrees (I think) in having a smaller user-base, so it is easier to consult all or most users.
