Along with setting account to not being able to change it, would like option to set account to not be able to “Change the blocks on this page” for My Page, while it’s still in existence.

I created a simplified page and would like to have that be permanent by default. Option in Create New User alongside “Allow this user to edit his account information”

Good idea. I’ve had it removed from my own site for so many years (since early use of PGV) I’d forgotten it was there. I believe it would be extremely rare for any user (non-admin) to ever use it.

It will certainly become optional, but possibly removed completely. It is part of the Roadmap item

    Reduce user options
Make theme setting a manager / administrator setting only
Remove My Page and instead go direct to the user’s individual page on login.

Remove from users but allow Admin to set page when masquerading into the new account to setup the page.

I agree with the idea that login should take person to their own page. But, there still should be a page to see the “stats” (default or custon), on this day, etc which currently is My Page. Maybe the name is misleading but not sure of alternate. Even I look at it and use it for my own HTML block of details.

…but allow Admin to set page when masquerading into the new account to setup the page.

There would be no need to use masquerade. Once set by admin as the “default” all users would get the same automatically. It would not need to be stored on a per-user basis.

That is absolutely my own thoughts, and I’m also struggling to find the right name for the page.
But another option is to allow small blocks (renamed as “widgets” ) to be placed on one side of ALL pages. A bit like this site.

Indeed, the Admin option to set default user blocks without masquerading would be easier. Those with more users than me would know if any ever take advantage of being able to change blocks. Maybe “moderator and manager” can have option to change blocks as they’re ones that are suppose to know what they’re doing… (do we 🙂

Perhabs My Page should be named “My Tool Page” and with a icon tool?

What about something simple like “Information” ?

Information name is good if the page is used for that

I use “my page” for stastic, todo, task, uncoming events, journal ect. So the name information usefull in my case! (I have no idea who use this page and with which purpose) I only know new users are confused about having 2 pages (as you allready know)

I was thinking about having “my page” as a toolbar in the left side – viewing/hiding with cursor view (a bit like iphone/apple system) Can you follow me? (then it do not need a name users can see)

I can draw an image if you want!

If you look back though this discussion you will find I said:

I guess it could be permanently displayed on large screens. and hidden as you describe for smaller ones.

True and yes I did noticed the earlier suggestion – but read it as you would put it on as a frame.

I was thinking about having it as a kind of menu (textbar) sorted of self-defined html, to-do – task – journal or w/e users put in their “my page”. Editing their profile also one that could be there! And when you click at this textbar – it will open a frame upon the page (a bit like pop-up and not a pop-up). And this menu-bar only viewing like this mouse-attention (forgot what it is called excactly)

Do you remember the old pgv-theme where the design had oak tree as color? That dev. made a sidebar a bit like this! It was not great – but your version will be 🙂

But the easy way could just be to have access rules for the blocks/frames we use (journal-todo-html blocks ect) and we can just put it on main page and remove “my page” completely. And ex. at the edit mode – having this view setup – view page as member/visitor (like editing a normally homepage – where you have the option to view what you just added/edited). If we can do that – then we can have mainpage when logged on only showing the user defined blocks/frames (if any are made).

Well this is just some ideas – your way perhabs the best solution 🙂
