Get the following error msg every time I try to install Kiwitrees 3.3.4 using setup wizard: SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1062 Duplicate entry ‘personal_facts’ for key ‘PRIMARY’ immediately after clicking on “Submit” button in final step. Happens every time.

Is this using the same database you used when you tried to install kiwitrees-nova (ref your post: https://kiwitrees.net/forums/topic/sql-error-on-install/

Are you now trying to upgrade from kiwitrees-nova to kiwitrees 3.3.4? If so, sorry, that’s not a possibility. You will be able to upgrade from kiwitrees to kiwitrees-nova (when released) but not the other way round.

If you have installed the kiwitrees-nova software, then you may have a lot of duplicate files, with different names. So you might be better off starting with a fresh installation, for both files and database. If losing data, user details etc is a concern then I can assist with advice on moving core components and tidying up duplications.

Note also that kiwitrees 3.3.4 is now obsolete. Please download kiwitrees 3.3.5 from here: https://kiwitrees.net/services/downloads/

Thanks for your prompt reply, Nigel. I’m not in this for the technical challenge so I think I’ll simply use your hosting service rather than mess around with the intricacies of server/SQL issues. Thanks for your help, though. Before I sign up I should tell you that I can only access your site through a VPN. Otherwise, I get an error message “You don’t have permission to access / on this server.” I assume “/” refers to the root directory. I can’t tell if the problem is on my end or with my ISP (cable provider Spectrum) or possibly on your end. Any thoughts?

Happy to help. I will contact you off-forum to discuss this further.

It could be any number of issues. One that springs to mind is IP blocking. I seem to recall you had a lot of issues with registering or logging in to this site some time ago. It is possible your IP address is, as a result of frequent failed attempts to log in, now blocked at this end. I would like to fix this before proceeding with your sign up for hosting services, as it is likely to be an issue there as well. The hosting service uses the server as this forum.

To test this, please open a non-VPN connected browser. Try to connect to kiwitrees.net. Assuming it fails, type “whatsmyip” in the browser’s URL/search box. That will tell you your IP address (something like “49.225.228.138”). Send that to me and I’ll see if it is on our server’s blacklist.

Meanwhile, I’ll move this out of the “Bug report” area, as I suspect it is not actually a kiwitrees software bug.

Same thing without VPN. Blocked. My IP is 76.187.60.229. I’m quite sure the problem is also not a DNS block/filter on my end. I’ve tried using a number of third-party DNSs and the result is the same.

It was as I expected. That IP address was blocked due to too many failed attempts at login (assumed brute force hacking attempt)

Now cleared, so please try again.
