Account request doesn’t have too many steps for one that ultimately gives access to such persona info. When I created an account on JewishGen, before approval you give your personal details in step 1.
Neither PGV, webtrees or kiwitrees requires you to give anything (woe is the Admin that would approve such account). Just something in comments field. (Which should be where details are put but it’s not obvious.)
Until I incorporate the my form into the scheme of things, I emailed my own info form to the prospective user. Will be interesting if she completes it. (Her details, parents/spouse details; basic to me so that I can determine who she is and how she relates.)

I used the home page create account link. The “user” (me) got the request to confirm but Admin (me) didn’t get notice of either prospective new user or when confirmed.
Did you check your (and your mail server’s) spam filters?
What settings do you have for :
- Technical contact
- Genealogy contact
- webtrees reply address (just realised I need to change that!)
- Is your admin account email address correct / valid?
- Are there any reports in the kiwitrees log list relevant to these registrations?

webtrees reply address REPLY ADDRESS???? Don’t recognize phrase but I use only the site admin email
See attached. Some mail servers will reject email with the default “no-reply” email so try changing it to your standard admin email address.

I have never used the internal system – so can not say anything about it
But I wish I also could make a http instead of my email – since a few in the danish group (incl me) having a user defined contact form and would be nice to link to that one instead (a way to avoid the standard messaging system)
So many having their own ideas which message the message formular should contain. So if we could use http as well – then we could have the freedom to design our own – instead of funny way to avoid it.
Like I have a webmaster (bc I do not want my name as contact) and instead of the mailto I could have the link to my own formular

Do you mean HTML? http is the way the whole web works – except highly secure parts that use https.
I haven’t checked, but I don’t think there is anything stopping you from using HTML for kiwitrees automated mail responses. Their contents are just translatable language texts, so you can translate them either permanently or with a custom language file, to include the raw HTML tags you want.
You might also need to configure kiwitrees mail to use SMTP, but that is also just a configuration option.Edit: not required.But are you referring to automated emails ( edit approval notifications and user registration notifications) or the contact links? I expect the contact links could include a WYSIWYG editor if your kiwitrees is configured to use it. Or you can simply include the raw html tags.

I just checked further to remind myself.
Yes you CAN send HTML emails. You need to manually change one file, and at present that file has a small bug. Attached is a replacement version (kiwitrees/includes/functions/functions_mail.php.
In this file, near the top,are these three lines of code:
$mailFormat = “plain”; //$mailFormat = “html”; //$mailFormat = “multipart”;
To use HTML (or multipart, which is always a good idea) just comment out plain and un-comment multipart to have this:
//$mailFormat = “plain”; //$mailFormat = “html”; $mailFormat = “multipart”;
Then in the mail pop-up window type your message including HTML tags. I just tested it sending this simple message to myself:
This is bold text.
This is normal text.It appeared in my inbox correctly as:
This is bold text.
This is normal text.When I have time I will investigate including the WYSIWYG editor on the mail form.

Sorry I should explain my self more clear than the one I made before.
When you make a user – we put in contact details like email. This email if it is an admin like me is also used as contact in the bottom line (contact xxxx if any question)
So I am thinking of when I make a user (me and perhabs one more) we have one more spot for homepage or w/e we call it. Then I can put in a http://mydomain.com or w/e. Then in contact details I could choose if the contact is either by email or the http I have at the userCould use comment!

You cannot contact a person by using a link to a web page.
If you want a link in the footer, or anywhere else to a different site, just use the custom_js module.

… and don’t forget, in kiwitrees you now have the option to NOT display the technical or genealogy contacts.
