Encountering weird behaviour in my A-D site so tried my The Royals site which is separate install. After editing and saving an edit, the window doesn’t close exactly. It saves but instead of disappearing, I get a home page of my browser.

Not sure I understand the problem from that brief explanation It certainly doesn’t sound like anything I’ve seen..

What does “the window doesn’t close exactly” mean? It partially closes ???
Is it happening on both sites, or only the A-D site?
If only one site, how do they differ?

Is it reproducible? If so, how?
    What were you editing?
    What were the edited entries?

Have you checked your web server logs?
Have you checked the kiwitrees site log (in admin?
At the time, did you check the developer tools / console (f12 button on most browsers) for any error messages?

I replied in caps beside each question.

Have you checked the kiwitrees site log (in admin? ERRORS – NOTHING

At the time, did you check the developer tools / console (f12 button on most browsers) for any error messages?

You’ll need to ask you web host about that. It would be useful to know if any errors were reported.

I can’t reproduce this yet from anything you have given me. Can I access one of the sites?

The link you provided (for developer tools) is too outdated to know what I’m looking for. (version 6 vs 13).

http://royals.rbcsolutions.ca/ > you have a kiwi account active. It’ll open to The Rebbes which is where I was. Do an edit to G1. I changed EVENT 1 Fact to Name Change and 2 TYPE to Name Change, for example. Save. A browser window remains open.

PS: I used both Safari and Firefox, version in sig.

OK, logged in as you suggested. Changed a couple of things, and changed them back. Did it twice, using Chrome and Firefox browsers. No problem at all I’m afraid.

That means the problem is local, either your machine, or your web server, or perhaps the MAC version of your browsers, making it impossible for me to investigate, even using your own web site.

    So:
    a) you need to work out how to enable and use the Developer tools in your browser(s). Here’s another link that might help for Safari – https://developer.apple.com/safari/tools/ Once you have that available, have it open and do an edit. It might (hopefully) flag an error during the process. Just save and post here a screen shot of it.

    b) you also need to find out if errors are being listed on the web server error logs. Talk to your web host about these.Even if they are not currently enabled, they should be able to enable them for you, and tell you how to access them (cpanel, or phpMyAdmin?)

I can find the tools, don’t know which one will provide the info you want. Both browsers have countless options:

    SAFARI

    FIREFOX

    Okay, we’re at a standstill:

I did chat with web host. No error longs for my domain or shared host.
I did support chat with Apple. Using screen share, showed her what I was attempting and what the expected results should be. Tried using Safari, Firefox, Chrome. In all 3, the window didn’t close. Did a lot of troubleshooting. No change. I repeatedly said that the developer tried on PC/WIndows and could not replicate.

I did ask the Senior Advisor (Level 2 support which won’t mean much to you but normally when you call, you get a junior person as most questions are easy to answer) if the issue would create an error written to a log. Best answer was not to her knowledge. I did display the Develop window that I sent image of above.

Then, she had me change open window, to open new tab. In a 3 browsers, the tab closed after an edit. However, I believe you re-wrote the code years ago changing that to a pop-up window. So, without resolution, stuck with a problem.
