I can confirm this problem. Regardless of event selected, the Annulment edit form opens.

Been playing with this issue. It is a matter of the new horizontal look.

If the Family Page is not full screen but run in a smaller window, the selection and a creation of a new fact works perfectly. You have to refresh the page when completed or the selector does not return to the default Annulment selection.

In full screen, the add a fact form always defaults to either the default Annulment selection or the previous selection used while in a smaller window. The latter case is if the page was not refreshed after a selection was made in the smaller window.

Hope this explanation isn’t too confusing.

Weird but usable if the user understands what is going on.

Roy, yes that is a goog (partial) explanation. Fortunately it is easily fixed, though for now a little messy.

You can either wait for the next release or install the two replacement files from the attached zip folder. They are:
Family.php (note capital ‘F’). This goes in /library/WT/Controller/
functions_print.php. This goes in /includes/functions/

The problem was caused because it is currently necessary, as you have seen, to have BOTH the old display (for smaller screens) and the new one, which in this bug caused a duplication (and therefore rejection) of an ID.

This ‘design’ is because the new version is too wide for smaller screens. What I need (I think) is to redesign the “person boxes” completely so that I can retain the horizontal “tree” whilst still getting it to fit on a smaller screen. Unless anyone has other suggestions????? All input appreciated.

Atm your fix works fine. A solution could be:

Overview trees in general for the ancestors/dec. should only contain pict, name, birth and death. Country should only be there if the country is different from language. Only main person(s) can contain more info. (in this case the married couple)

Birth and death can be like this ex. 1456-1515 instead.

Reports can have more info according to the user choice at the specific report.

Overview trees=basic info!

And why only basic? Cause the overview tree can be “clicked to show more info”. In a report – you can not “click to more info”

🙂 I could not agree more! 🙂 That is “like music to my ears” (hope that translates OK for you…..)

I tried very hard in the past to have such an idea accepted but was never allowed to do it. On my site if you look at any charts it always shows the “compact” view by default – http://our-families.info/pedigree.php?rootid=I5466&ged=Osborne.ged.

Perhaps, for the family page (for now) we could use a design based this:

(no need to guess where that came from 🙂 )

Not so sure about Country should only be there if the country is different from language. Things that show for some people and not others are messy to design because space must always be allowed. I prefer either no place ever, or just country (or whatever the final part of PLAC tag is).

Names must also be abbreviated as some are very long. This is already done in the existing “compact” view.

I can accept your “new_person_box” with no rejects at all!(Also without places) As said before. I can click to get more info. But this only goes for overviews becauce we can not be “stingy” with info at reports 🙂 Unless we “choose” it in options 🙂
