My public sites updated fine. My A-D site is disaster — I can only see the kiwitrees header and footer. When I login via admin.php, to my individual record, I see the same plus my name “header”. No details, no sidebar, nada!
I did default update before revising to include my custom Census forms.

This seems to happen to you at most upgrades. Go to admin and re-enable modules.
Wish I could explain the cause but I can’t reproduce or explain how it could even be possible to happen. Never seen it on any other site.

Just on this point (it’s not related to the main issue here), did you check after the update whether your custom Census Forms are still required? I can’t recall their purpose now, but I do know I updated a number of forms for you in this latest release, so the customisations might now be redundant.

The install I did was without those installed. I just did another complete install and the image shows what I see.
The custom forms are to accommodate my choice of items I want on the forms. On my Royals install, I have them installed along with the 1950 US census and all is well.

As I said above, the Census forms have no bearing on the problem you raised in your first post, and the image you have just supplied. So we need to exclude those completely from this topic.
So, returning to the original issue, have you done as I suggested and re-enabled all the modules you use, and saved their access configurations? That image, and a quick look at your site, suggests not.
If you have done those things, then you will need to find an error message somewhere on your server to give me a clue as to what is happening.

Agreed, census has no bearing on the problem. What is weird is the update works okay on Royals and when I looked at modules, all were enabled (not customary) after update.

Suggestion correction in title for the fix: PHP 8.0+ needs the fix.
