When I open a pdf-file or a mediafile( extern linked), the X for closing the mediafile is not visible. See.

I’ve looked at your link and can both see and use the close icon (see attached). I wonder if your issue is browser related? I tested the link in latest Chrome.
Also, though I’m not suggesting we shouldn’t have the close icon, you can also close any opened media file in kiwitrees by simply clicking anywhere in the shaded space outside the image box.

Also using the latest version of Chrome. But still not visible, only when I minimize the window a liitle, I can change the window.
Did not know that clicking next to the image closes the image. -
Can you give me a screen image of what you see, so I can compare it with what I see looking at the same object. It might suggest something.

attached 3 images. Screen 1 is how the browser normally displays, screen 2 after minimizing the window, screen 3 after changing the measures of the window.

Interesting. What is your screen size?
Without checking I think the PDF window is a fixed size. It looks like the problem is related to that size conflicting with your screen size. My screen is much more towards “square”, actually 1920 X 1200.
