When creating a new record, there’s a new CHECK feature while editing. However, I’m finding that when a record is found, the new record in progress is committed anyway. In someway defeating the purpose of finding an existing record. If multiple possible records are found, a new window is presented with the list but the new record is still committed.

Like the feature however, I’d prefer option to cancel creating the new record and use the existing record (if indeed it’s a match) to add to the family or spouse.

Thats definitely not what I intended. I’ll have a closer look at this over this weekend hopefully. Must be a small bug of some description.

Cancelling the option (and the “add individual” screen is what I intended to happen if you find a match.

I’ve been able to identify the problem and fix it now. It was , as you say, incorrectly submitting the new entry as soon as you clicked the “Check” button. I have also added a small piece of text to better explain the use of the duplicates.

So now, if you click “Check”:
1 – The “Possible duplicates” window opens (leaving the original “add new individual” window also open)
2 – If there are any possible duplicates they will be listed there together with this text:

These individuals might be duplicates of your new entry. Click on a name to open a new tab at their page to view more details.
Close this window and the Add new individual window if you do not want to complete this addition.
