Odd issue with advanced search. I did this:

    Choosed search from menu
    Picked up the advanced search
Typed 2 letters each in first/lastname

Changed from the dropdown from “sounds like” to “begins with”
    Clicked search

The result of this is the labels “firstname” & “lastname” changed to a tag “begins”

See the enclosed image (danish but gives a hint)

I’ve always seen (several generations of kiwitrees) this in advance search, just never questioned it as it did the search as expected. (Mine changes to EXACT as that’s mostly what I use advance for when searching name.)

Wow, you are right – a very old bug!!

Fortunately you just caught me before I packed up fro the day, and it’s an easy fix.

From the attached zip folder replace the file kiwitrees/library/WT/Controller/Search.php

    Mine changes to EXACT…

In fact the same bug would apply to BEGINS, EXACT, and CONTAINS. SOUNDEX was the only one working properly.
