When I add a fact or event in kiwitrees 3.3.9 and save the new record the individuals page is not automatically updated with the new fact or event, also the page where added the new fact or event does not close.

Not sure what OS or browser you use, but I’ve had that problem for ages .

Yes, it’s been a problem since about release 3:3,3 for adding media objects. See bug reports https://www.kiwitrees.net/forums/topic/problem-adding-media-objects-under-album-tab/ and also an earlier report referenced there.
It’s now an issue for any edit that involves a second new tab or window.
Fortunately it doesn’t actually stop anything processing correctly, but it is annoying. It’s primarily, but not exclusively, a Chrome issue. But I’m sure all other browsers will follow Google’s lead and add the same restrictions even if they haven’t yet.
I need to find a new way to code these processes, but that still works in a user-friendly way across multiple device types. It’s not an easy thing in an environment as complex as ours.

Kiwi, it’s Facts and Events that is the problem. Separate from any media issue. And this proves it’s not a “Mac problem” as grebjiem is on Windows/Chrome.
If screen is refreshed, ForE will display or I’ve duplicated entry and then realize I what happened. The edit window will usually stay open, blank. For me, goes back maybe 2 or 3 releases.

I thought I should chip-in on this issue which I have been aware of for some time. I use Linux Mint and also a chromebook, using Firefox and Chrome. Seems to affect all op systems then?

I have been doing some testing, and find that it’s not as simple as just “adding a fact or event”.
Can anyone who can easily replicate the issue please add here the exact and complete steps that I can use to see the issue as you see it.

Thanks to some great feedback I have identified an area of code I had not previously tested for this error. It also gives all users a temporary solution to at least some instances of this problem.
It is now clear that when adding a fact or event to either an individual or a family record there is a different response depending whether you select the fact or event from the “Select” drop-down, or from the “quick-list” of options just below that.
The quick-list produces the issue as described in this thread, the drop-down select list does not. So, temporarily, I suggest you do not use the quick-list.

hats off to you kiwi, would never have thought about testing both ways. Most times I do add F&E from quick list. Workaround is no problem.
