(Transferred from topic MySQL 5.7+ issues)
Nigel:
This is a local install so restarting MySQL was no problem. However, it didn’t fix the Sidebar Families & Individuals list error.
Tried turning off the cache by editing the Name.php. Still got an error like before. I wonder if the part of the error listing that is shown below could be the culprit. Never had that with the Reports Families & Individuals list errors.” Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function getClientIp() on null in C:\wamp64\www\Ourtree\includes\session.php on line 353
( ! ) Error: Call to a member function getClientIp() on null in C:\wamp64\www\Ourtree\includes\session.php on line 353″.Roy

No, I don’t think so. I believe that is a completely separate issue, and not related to MySQL. Unfortunately it is the RESULT of an error, not the cause. It is a very generic error message, similar to an “error 500” type that actually tells you almost nothing about the cause. I have seen a number of these on my own site since the upgrade and am working to find the cause.

In further testing I believe I have narrowed this down. I can repeatedly recreate this message if I enter a valid INDI XREF (e.g. “I1234”) in the general search box at the top of each page (in the header).
Can you please test the attached replacement file to see if it also stops the recurrence of the error message on your system.
The file in the attached zip folder replaces the one of the same name (note the capital “S” for Search) in kiwitrees/library/WT/Controller/Search.php

That’s annoying. I’m no longer getting any errors.
I have tried one change on Ron’s system (he has the same problem as you). I’ll wait a while to see if that helps then get back to you.

Bad news I’m afraid – there was just another occurrence on my systemr (08.50 server time – about 11 hours after you logged out Nigel.) But the fact that the frequency has reduced dramatically is hopefully an indication that you’re almost there!

Great Ad Nigel. But it’s changed my view of New Zealanders. It seems you’re as eloquent as Aussies after all!
Let me know if I can help test out further theories.Ron in France Website: https://clan-davies.kiwitrees.net/ kiwitrees 3.3.11; PHP 8.0.14

For now I’m stumped. I’ll have to think about it, but it might be a while before I can find this one. What’s puzzling me most is that it is no longer happening on my site.
Makes me wonder if search engines are triggering something that perhaps no longer exists. If so, then eventually they will give up trying and the errors will stop. Or am I just ‘wishful thinking’….

Roy, Ron
Are either of you still seeing this issue on a regular basis? I can not reproduce it so would like to close this bug report.
