Special Xmas gift from webtrees

To give all its users a special Xmas gift webtrees has released the latest version, 1.2.6, slightly earlier than the normal schedule. This version, released on 23 December, contains bug fixes, a new translation (Icelandic), some minor design improvements, and a new sitemap module.

kiwitrees will have all its client sites upgraded in the next hour or so.

Another great update from webtrees

The latest release from webtrees (1.2.5) came out on 5th December. It includes a fresh new jQuery DataTables-based design for all the list pages plus many other improvements and bug fixes.

All our kiwitrees client sites were immediately upgraded in one trouble free process. So quick and straightforward we needed to email all our clients to tell them it had happened, in case they didn’t notice!

Updates and additions to our “Simpl” add-ons

Over the last couple of days we have been busy updating and improving our range of “Simpl” webtrees add-ons.

  • All of them are now fully compatible with the latest release of webtrees (1.2.5)
  • We have added the one so many people have requested, the “simpl_theme” I use own my own personal webtrees site Our Families.

We still have a couple more to add, so keep an eye on the add-ons page!

Latest release from webtrees

October 30th, 2011 – the latest release from webtrees is now available. We are in the process of upgrading all kiwitrees client site to this very latest version of webtrees, 1.2.4.
Quote from webtrees:
This release follows in the footsteps of previous releases in the 1.2 series, and contains many performance related improvements. As well as a small reduction in the execution times, we have also restructured many of the pages to improve the overall responsiveness. Assuming your server is well-configured, most pages now score "grade A" on YSlow and over 90% on PageSpeed.
There have been fixes for about 75 reported bugs, plus well over 100 unreported ones. This includes a couple of privacy and security related issues. FOR THIS REASON ALONE, YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO UPGRADE.
Some new translators have joined the project, and we now support Japanese, Galician, Bosnian and Tatar. This brings the total to 45 supported languages (27 core plus 18 additional).
There have been some subtle changes to the way we respond to search-engines, which should reduce the number of bad requests and 403 responses that the server needs to generate.
Although most of the changes are "under-the-hood", there is one major update to the user interface. We have redesigned the tables of individuals/sources/repositories/etc. The new format looks much better, and has integrated filtering to help you find the information you are searching for

webtrees has it’s 1st birthday!!!

Congratulation to the webtrees team on their 1st birthday. Version 1.0.0 of webtrees was released on 26th August 2011. Since that day there have been 14 new releases, each one improving on the previous. Current downloads are averaging 30+ per day, and growing with each new release. There is no sign of a slow down in the rate of improvement and growth.

New Zealand’s Family History Fair 2011

The New Zealand Family History Fair 2011 is being held in Hamilton (the Claudelands Centre) on the weekend of 26-27 August 2011.
It looks like a great opportunity for all our NZ based clients, and anyone living in NZ with an interest in family history, to learn more about the subject. I will certainly be there.
Full details are available at http://www.nzfamilyhistoryfair.org.nz

webtrees latest – 1.2.3

The latest release of webtrees is now available (4th August 2011). This release contains more than 200 updates, including fixes for approximate 50 reported bugs, and numerous design improvements.
As with all webtrees releases, the upgrade process is very simple, so everybody is encouraged to do it as soon as possible.
The developers are not able to provide support fro old versions either, so another good reason to upgrade 🙂
Clients here on kiwitrees were, of course, upgraded automatically just as soon as the new version was available.
